Day 1 - Denver Bound

Greetings from Colorado! An 8am start and 14-hours on the road put us in Grand Junction by 10:30pm. We drove a total of 847 miles with only a few stops for food and gas. It sucks that we passed by several National Parks and weren’t able to stop. We have a time schedule to keep. Maybe on the way home we can take a slight detour, even for an hour or so. Last time we drove through this area was on our honeymoon in December and it was covered in snow. Today we hit temperatures in the 90s = hot. Tomorrow we will be rolling into Denver to attend Laura’s (Robert’s cousin) wedding on Saturday. Robert's parents and kids are already at Carrie and Jeremy's house. It will be good to spend the weekend with them.

Our first stop for food was at The Mad Greek in Baker, California. The Mad Greek was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives w/ Guy Fieri and we were pretty excited about eating there, BUT....the food was marginal and very expensive ($26 for two gyros and drinks). There were also cockroaches in the restroom. Probably won't go there again.... oh, the temperature was 101-degrees.

We drove through Dirty Vegas as fast as we could, but eventually got stuck in traffic. Yuck.

...ahhh...holding hands while listening to 'our' song: Collide by Howie Day.

Who knew they had a Dairy Queen in Beaver, Colorado?! Service was horrible - nothing, but a bunch of teenagers working behind the counter, but my caramel sundae tasted good and the bathroom was clean.

Now it's time for a shower and some sleep in our comfortable Comfort Inn room.
